Year in Review 2016 - Driving

In 2016 I set a new record for my car: driving it less than 1000 miles. I averaged 2.27 miles per day, the vast majority of which was trips out of town. Throughout the whole year I never drove to work once! My car is coming up on 14 years, and is still just shy of 68,000 miles (it's at exactly 67,999!).

Year In Review 2015 - Vehicle Miles Traveled

I'll have to confess: I don't actually have any data on my car use in 2015. I only record the mileage when I have it serviced, and I was remiss in getting an oil change from November 2014 until January 2016. During that 417 day gap I drove a grand total of 1,628 miles, averaging 1,428 miles/year or only 3.9 miles/day.

I've read a number of posts lately about how the number of vehicle miles traveled has been dropping and figured I should take a look at my own data. It's a bit sparse (I've only recorded my odometer reading at service appointments) but I have numbers for the past nine years.
